USEFUL EVENT INFORMATION
BAGGAGE TENT Baggage can be stored pre-race in the “BAGGAGE TENT”. Your entry number will be used to identify your belongings.
TOILETS Toilets are located near the Wheel of Brisbane.
GATHERING POINTS
Runners: Gather in the zone at the Southern end of precinct at your expected completion time (more than 25mins or less than 25mins). Look for “RUNNERS” and ‘RUNNING TIMES” signs.
Walkers and participants with prams/strollers: Gather in the zone at the Northern end of precinct. Look out for “WALKERS” and “PRAMS/STROLLERS” signs.
Corporate Teams: Gather in the Runners Zone if running or Walkers Zone, if walking the course.
TIMING A timing clock will be located at the start/finish areas. It is the responsibility of all competitors to record their own time.
REHYDRATION Drink before, during, and after the event to avoid dehydration. We thank Powerade for their support as the RACQ Insurance International Women’s Day Fun Run/Walk hydration sponsor.
RACE START
The actual race start will be alongside Queensland Performing Arts Centre (QPAC) near the entry to Victoria Bridge.
Runners will be guided from the race precinct to the start line 5 minutes before the starting gun.
Walkers and participants with prams/strollers will be guided from the race precinct to the start line after the runners have started.
RACE FINISH
The finish line can be seen clearly from the end of the Grande Arbour. Keep moving across the finish line down to the refreshments – please do not stop moving as this will clog the finish chute.
RACE PACK AND T-SHIRT COLLECTION
Everyone who registers for the event and produces their race number at the “RACE PACK & T-SHIRT COLLECTION” tent AFTER race completion can collect their t-shirt and race pack.
PRIZES
Major prize for the first three place-getters overall (women/girls only):
- Prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd in each age category for runners
- The “Brisbane Road Runners Women in Sport” trophy for the school with the most entries
- The “Corporate Cup” for the winning corporate team
- Prize for 1st, 2nd and 3rd in corporate team category
- Prize for “Best Dressed” corporate team

The inaugural fun run was in 1991 and has grown from a few hundred competitors to over
6,500 last year. To celebrate this milestone we want to hear from you if you,
or someone you know, has competed in every
International Women’s Day Fun Run since 1991!

In 2009 the International Women's Day Fun Run/Walk attracted record numbers as more than 6,500 participants took to the streets on a magnificent March morning in support of our nominated beneficiary chicks in pink, making it one of the biggest runs of it’s kind in Australia.
Chicks in pink support care and treatment of breast cancer patients at the Mater Public and Private Hospitals.
The 5 km run/walk starts (7am) and finishes in the Cultural Forecourt, South Bank Parklands. Race categories include 5km Individual Walkers, 5km Individual Runners (eight age categories) and 5km Corporate Teams as well as a School’s Trophy and Best Dressed Team prizes.
