The Coast to Coast is an iconic ride traversing the country from West to East. One of the most popular, rewarding and scenic cycle routes in the UK, covering 150 miles in 3 exhilarating days. Our route takes you on and off road through some of Northern England's most spectacular countryside, and you'll experience it all from the comfort of your bike saddle.

The ride is fully supported and guided by Purple Mountain. They will take you on a journey of discovery (you'll discover bits of you, you never knew existed) over 3 days, over the Pennines and over the North York Moors. You'll even get the chance to ride part of Le Tour de France as we use some of the very same tarmac that will be ridden by Bradley Wiggins, Chris Froome, Mark Cavendish and their cycling friends when The Grand Depart comes to Yorkshire in 2014. Make Le Coast to Coast 2014 your own Tour de Force !

Through the challenge you'll come together as a team, cycle hard across varied terrain, encourage and support each other and make new friends for life as you strive together to conquer the Coast to Coast.

By choosing to take on this challenge you will be helping Marie Curie provide care and support for terminally ill people and their families in their own homes. For this very important reason we ask every participant to raise as much in sponsorship as they can. The target set for the Coast to Coast 2014  is £25,000.

To make it easier for every one to give we have a Just Giving Team site, where all donations and sponsorship can be collected together. Of course you'll be able to keep a personal tally as well.

Why and how does the whole thing happen ?

Marie Curie Cancer Care is the chosen charity of Purple Mountain. We have run a Coast to Coast event for Marie Curie for the past 5 years. We know that many people are put off taking part by the large sums that participants in such events are asked to raise. We have chosen to approach it in a different way, by asking riders to pay for their accommodation and food costs. We then just ask people to raise as much as they are able. This removes a big hurdle and hopefully will encourage a lot more people to take part. There is no minimum sponsorship amount but we are sure everyone will work really hard to raise a great sum for Marie Curie.

The event is only made possible by the generous help and support of friends, families and colleagues, who give their time and skills for no charge. Purple Mountain do not profit from this event, all revenue generated goes to Marie Curie.
